KYLIE COSMETICS GLOSS REVIEW ON WOC + GIVEAWAY

Left to right: Like, Literally, So Cute

New shorter brush applicator

This feels like it has taken an eternity but, I finally am doing a review on the infamous Kylie cosmetics lip gloss by Kylie Jenner's makeup line. I snagged these on the first launch on 4/1 and we all know by now the whole hot mess express that happened with the brush design on the first launch. Long story short I ended up with a total of 10 glosses 5 were the o.g long brush that I purchased and the other 5 were the short brushed bristles. So given the circumstances I'm giving away one of each color.

Moving onto the review the glosses currently come in three colors of nude: like, literally, and so cute. The packaging is the same as that on the liquid lip kit lipsticks. The one biggest downfall to this product in my opinion is the applicator. Even after shortening it, I still feel like it makes the product apply streaky. With this formulation I think that a doe foot would have been a better choice due to the creamy texture and color. This brush type works well with shimmer or glitter glosses that are sheer such as MAC dazzleglass because they are not as opaque.

Like, Literally, So Cute
Since formulation varies based on color especially in these glosses I'm going to break it down by color.

Like with ring light

 Literally with flash

Literally with ring light
Starting both Like and Literally since they are the most similar out of the trio and wearable in my opinion.

Color description:

per Kylie's site it is described as "The ‘Like’ shade is a warm mocha, warm brown beige."
This color pulls differently depending on your skin tone. On me it pulls more warm brown pinky/ terracotta. This color is the best for WOC in my opinion and is the most universally flattering shade.

The ‘Literally’ shade is a warm toned peachy nude.
On my skin tone this pulls more of a light mauve with a hint of peach to it. This is not a color I personally feel comfortable with wearing alone without a liner or layered with something else. My personal favorite way to wear this is to fill in my lips with colourpop chi lip pencil and place "literally" in the center of my lips with "like" on the outer corners.

Texture & wear:

One thing about me is that I absolutely DESPISE lip gloss, though I have a few exceptions like the buxom lip creme polishes and Anastasias lip glosses. It's mainly the sticky thick texture that puts me off with glosses. The Kylie lipgloss puts me in mind of the Anastasias texture and wear wise. It's not sticky IF it's not layered, when it is it tends to get thick and heavy and slightly sticky though not Mac lipglass level sticky.  They have a creamy type of texture with a good amount of slip to it. It wears just as long as you would expect any gloss which isn't very long at all depending on what you are doing and what it is paired with. One thing I do have to say about these that both me and my mom found is that they leave your lips extremely soft and moisturized.

Pigmentation:

These two colors are very opaque. One layer gets full color coverage without streaking.

 So Cute with ring lighting

 So cute with flash
Now onto the shade that makes me look like a crackhead: so cute

Color:

per Kylie's site The ‘So Cute’ shade is a warm nude beige.

This is a very very pale almost white with a hint of pink, peach, and beige. This color is flattering by itself on very few people besides those that are fair-light. Otherwise I would stay very far from this shade for anyone that is medium and darker. I don't even think that pairing this without mixing it a lot would help. My philosophy with mixing and lining is that if you have to do it to the point to where it totally alters the color, there is no point in getting that color in the first place just look for a shade closer to the one you mixed it to.

Texture and wear:

same as that of the previous two glosses.

Pigmentation: This is where the major difference comes into play between the other two glosses and this one. And I honestly think this is due largely in part to the color and the brush tip applicator, but this color is STREAKY AF. It took me a good 3 layers to get the opacity shown in the pics with minimum streaking even though it is still there.
I honestly think that a lot of hitches could have been avoided in this product in general with better planning and ditching that brush tip applicator. If these would have had a applicator similar to that on the Anastasia glosses this product would be an A. Though I do like commend them on how they handled their error in the brush design. I do feel like the shorter brushes give a better application with not as much product being loaded onto the brush.

Price:

These retail for $15 on the kyliecosmetics.com site. It also gives you the option to buy all 3 bundled for $45

Smell/scent:

it has a scent that is hard to place. Some try to say it smells like cupcake or vanilla but to me and others I haven't found this. It of course smells very artificial and cloying sweet at first, it's not a bad scent per se just not my cup of tea. After applied the scent doesn't linger.

Overall rating : B

Too Faced Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick Review

Too faced recently launched their new addition to their liquid lipstick line, Melted Matte! Right now they are exclusive to VIB and VIB rouge to purchase, but should be available to everyone around April 5th.

What it claims per sephoras site:

" Matte color gets a makeover. Too Faced’s innovative formula glides onto lips like a gloss but dries to an ultra-matte, opaque finish. Melted Matte ensures that your lip color always looks rich, full, and kissable—and is never dry, shriveled, or cracked. The doe-foot applicator comfortably coats lips in bursts of intense, vivid matte color that lasts for hours. It’s infused with Vollulip for a no-sting plumping and smoothing effect and antioxidant-rich avocado oil and vitamin E to moisturize, while hyaluronic filling spheres smooth the look of lip lines. It comfortably coats lips with a wash of intense, high-impact, super-saturated color that lasts for hours."

By the time I got around to sephoras site to purchase these lipsticks all of the nudes, pinks, and reds were sold out which honestly wasn't that surprising. They only had the more bold and darker ones available which I had no problem with since they included the two shades I've been eyeing since I've heard new about them releasing, Who's zoomin who & unicorn.

Packaging and application:

In true Too Faced fashion, the packaging of both the box and product are gorgeous.
First thing first, I've seen so many people trying to describe the shape of the lipstick "it's rounded at the top then changes to a rectangle at the end".
Am I the only one that noticed or caught on to the fact that they are meant to resemble the packaging of the o.g melted lipsticks?!
(A bit dramatic but I felt kimojis were appropriate) (also just noticed you can only see kimojis on the mobile version :/ )

Now that that has been address....

I noticed also that these contain a lot of product. These have .23 fl oz and retail for 21$. When compared to Anastasia liquid lipstick (.11 fl oz), you get over double the amount for around the same price point. I'm in no way knocking Anastasias though because they have one of the best formulas IMO, but that's another review.

The applicator is your standard doe foot. I prefer this type just for the ease of being able to get a neat application with the applicator without using a lip liner or lip brush, for the simple reason that 99% of the time I don't use either when applying my liquid lipsticks.

As for the formula, it's not as runny/liquidy as colorpop, but not as mousey ( is that a word?             ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  it works ) as the Anastasia lipsticks. They are VERY pigmented though and only need one coat. The downside it that if you apply multiple layers you run the risk of it getting that heavy kind of dry cakey feeling on your lips.

Color:

As stated before these have excellent pigmentation. I found dupes for both of these with two Kat Von D lipsticks that I already have in my collection.

Who's zoomin who- is described as a matte deep sapphire
Unicorn- is described as a matte deep orchid

Who's zoomin who is the exact shade as Kat Von Ds Echo lipstick when applied to the lips as swatched below. Unicorn is the exact same shade as KVD L.U.V liquid lipstick and is slightly pinker than colorpops Be-Dazzled, also below. The only difference between the TF lipsticks and KVD is the pigmentation. Like most people who got the first couple batches of Echo, mine is not as opaque as it should be and slightly thinner than my other KVD lipstick ( I'm not sure if the formula is the same or has since been changed) and the same thing goes for LUV. The TF ones in the swatched are just with one coat/ pass.

Wear:

These are the type of formula where less is more. Thankfully the opacity and pigmentation easily allows for this. One swipe and you're good.
These lasted a good 10+ hrs on me. Of course though as with any liquid lipstick, if you eat something oily don't expect your lipstick to look flawless. I noticed a bit of inner lip fading after eating which is normal.

All in all I would definitely recommend these to someone who's in the market for a new liquid lipstick.

MAC x Charlotte Olympia collection 2016

MAC x Charlotte Olympia Collection 2016

When the photos of this collection first came out I almost literally cried ( probably  due to the fact that based on the packaging I thought it would cost a fortune, and I'm slick broke right now because the whole about-to-go-off-to-college thing). To my surprise though, the lipsticks were only priced a dollar or two more than macs standard line and the same for the pigment ( I'll get more into that later). So as soon as the collection went live I hoped on the Mac site in fears it would sell out in a glimpse. By the time this is up im hoping, fingers crossed, that it's still available. I had a shipping problem that ended up in me getting a free lipstick so hey I'm not complaining.

The collection is comprised of 3 lipsticks , two lip mixes, two pro longwear lip pencils ( all lip products are in shades of red),2 Cream color bases, a loose pigment, zoom lash mascara and liquid eyeliner, 3 cream finish nail polishes, a shader brush and spoolie, blotting papers, a lash curler, compact mirror, AND a makeup bag. This is a pretty big collection as you can tell. All in all I didn't pick up the whole collection because not much interested me more than the lipsticks and pigment.

As far as the lipsticks I purchased two out of the three, Leading Lady red and Starlett Scarlet. The third color was a more brown toned red that just didn't interest me. The lipsticks are being sold at the price point of 18$ USD. Which looking at the packaging you would think they would be more.

Leading Lady Red
Starlett Scarlet

Color:

Starlett scarlet is a more orange toned tomato red and is brighter in color.

Leading lady red is closer to that true red with a slight blue undertone that you see in most classic pinup reds.

These reds are not something rare that can't be easily duped. If you own a red it's probably a close match to at least one of these shades in this collection. Below I swatched both shades next to ruby woo. You can also see the difference in formulation on that picture.

I had no problems with pigmentation and opacity with these lipsticks they applied easily and evenly.

Starlett Scarlet

Leading Lady Red

From left to right: Starlett Scarlet, Ruby Woo, and Leading Lady red

Formulation:

These are labeled a matte finish, though in my opinion they are leading more towards a satin finish. They are not retro mattes so they aren't going to be as drying as my beloved infamous ruby woo lipstick. They are creamy and comfortable on the lips and glide without tugging.

Overdressed Pigment

Overdressed with flash

The only other thing that I picked up in this collection was the pigment in the shade Overdressed. As far as the pigment goes, I'm still kinda meeehh  about it . If it wasn't for the packaging I wouldn't have bought it. The main reason being the price point and what your getting for that price. This retails for 23$, a dollar more than the standard Mac pigments. It doesn't seem that bad until you compare the amount of product you are getting for your buck. Standard pigments are 4.5 g/ .15 oz but the pigment that is in this collection comes in at 1 g/ .03 oz, so you are basically getting a fifth of the product.

Other than the price it's a really pretty color. It's described on the site as a fleshy beige with pearl. I've been using it as my lid and inner corner highlight on days where I've couldn't be bothered to do a full eye, and with this, a light brown in the crease, and a winged liner I'm GTG.

Overall rating-

Lipstick- .A only because of the BEAUTIFUL vintage like packaging

Pigment- C+/B- for the amount of product you get and its easily dupable, but again THE PACKAGING!!!

Did any of you pick up anything from the collection?

Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks

Colourpop has some of the most high quality and pigmented products that don't break the bank. The Ultra Matte Lip are liquid lipsticks that dry down to a intense matte true to its name. Some colors can tend to feel slightly chalky, but nothing a good lip primer beforehand or lip balm couldn't fix. With a wide variety of colors to choose from and a price tag of only 6$ these are AMAZING!

From top left clockwise: Beeper, Guess, Jellies, Be-Dazzled

Beeper- This color, like most, will vary depending on your skin tone. On me it turned out to be a mid toned dusty pink color.  (I'm around a NC45 in MAC for a basic reference and bounce around between Tahoe and Cadiz in NARS.)

Guess- A dark eggplant color, if you want a dark lip but are too scared or have commitment issues with black lips, this is the way to go.

Jellies- This is my absolute FAV and is what made me try these lipstick in the first place. If your like me and say F*ck it to the stares you might receive this color quickly become your go to. (plus it makes your teeth look hella white.)

Be-Dazzled- A bright purple, absolutely stunning on ALL skin tones. The name says it all

Overall:

A

These can be found on colourpops website, and there is almost always a coupon code for a extra 5 dollars off purchase.

MAC Oh, Darling! Swatches and Dupes

Here is a quickie for those who were not able to get their hands on the Oh, Darling! extra dimension skinfinish that MAC launched in the Magic of the Night collection. These dupes are IDENTICAL when put on, plus you don't have to shell out 100's on ebay trying to find it.

Can you tell which is which?
From left to right: gilded honey, pro sculpt duo #2, Oh, Darling!

Laura Geller Gilded Honey 26$

Can be found here (usually, but its constantly sold out. Trust me I literally was tracking this baby down for a month until I found the one place it wasn't sold out of online, Macy's)
The only difference with this compared to the others is that it isn't as intense, nut only slightly. A better way to word it would probably is that it is able to be sheered out easier. This is best if you are the type to sometimes want just that "lit from within" glow, then take it to that " blinding, stop traffic shine" highlight.

MUFE Pro Sculpting duo in #2  39$

The priciest of the bunch can be found here. Though, the price can be easily justifiable since it has the butteriest (is that even a word, well it is now), smooth texture out of the lot. Plus it comes with a bronzer.

Well there it goes, all posses the strong light gold metallic shine comparable to the infamous Whisper of Guilt. So before you drain your bank account shelling out ridiculous amounts for this highlight, opt for one of these.

This newest addition to the Glamglow product line is currently available on Sephora and  retails for 39.00$ US for 0.88 oz of each step. Both steps come in a chrome mirror like sphere. Though at first the price tag may seem high, although expected coming from Glamglow, if broken down it comes to about 20$ per step and for the amount that you get it compares to just about every mid-high end lip treatment out there. Not to mention you get a ton of product to last you a while.

                                     TON of product

Fizzy Lip lip exfoliator (I might just be being really country, but it kinda looks like grits to me)

Step one contain the Fizzy Lip exfoliator. Both the the exfoliator and the balm have a sweet minty taste and smell which is due to the Morroccan mint that was stated in the official description I don't mind it, I actually like it ( It reminds me of Christmas and candy cane chapstick). With the product smelling like Christmas aside, the product does its job just the same as any other lip scrub I own (which is a lot), it gets all the dead skin of and my lips soft and smoo. What was supposed to set this product apart from the others on the market was the water activated fizz, but it honestly didn't translate that well when actually put in action. The directions state to first take some product and massage onto dry lips, then to add a bit of water to activate the fizzing. I tried this the first time and noticed a ever so slight tingle, but nowhere near the pop rock-esqe fizzing I saw that someone claimed in another review I read. Thinking I didn't use enough product, I added a bit more and along with  a little more water and got a little bit more of a fizzy sensation. So just keep in mind if the fizzing was the main selling point for you, don't expect a lot from in. I wasn't all that surprised from remembering back to earlier this year when Glamglow released their ""foaming"" face washes. (And that foaming in quotations deserved two sets of quotations due to me not every being able to get any foaming action from it no matter how many different ways I tried using it)

As far as the product consistency goes, it is a fairly thick paste like consistency. Not dry like the Lush lip scrubs if you are familiar with those. It has a nice medium of chunkier and smaller grains, and the actual product reminds me of grits. The littlest amount of this scrub goes a very long way ( I only need half a pea size amount, if that, to do my lips and I have small but full lips.)

 Wet Lip balm

The Wet Lip balm has the same minty taste and feel as its scrub counterpart. Its a nice thick balm with a slip, like the Rosebud lip salves, kind of like a oil and also gives your lips the same kind of look as an oil. I absolutely hate thick lip balms that feel too heavy and goopy like Vaseline, so the texture of this was a nice surprise with how thick it is. It moisturizes well, though if left on over night it can leave you with slightly tacky residue on your lips, but that can easily be overlooked due to how good your lips feel underneath once removed.

       Overall Grade:

       A-

All in all I like this product it does its job as a lip treatment duo and is well worth the money with the large amount of product you get which was a major perk for me. The only thing that I disliked about the product was the lack of fizziness going on with the lip scrub, with it having a name like "Fizzy Lip".

Buy Again/ Recommend? Yes, if its possible to ever run out of this stuff
