MAC x Charlotte Olympia Collection 2016

When the photos of this collection first came out I almost literally cried ( probably  due to the fact that based on the packaging I thought it would cost a fortune, and I'm slick broke right now because the whole about-to-go-off-to-college thing). To my surprise though, the lipsticks were only priced a dollar or two more than macs standard line and the same for the pigment ( I'll get more into that later). So as soon as the collection went live I hoped on the Mac site in fears it would sell out in a glimpse. By the time this is up im hoping, fingers crossed, that it's still available. I had a shipping problem that ended up in me getting a free lipstick so hey I'm not complaining.

The collection is comprised of 3 lipsticks , two lip mixes, two pro longwear lip pencils ( all lip products are in shades of red),2 Cream color bases, a loose pigment, zoom lash mascara and liquid eyeliner, 3 cream finish nail polishes, a shader brush and spoolie, blotting papers, a lash curler, compact mirror, AND a makeup bag. This is a pretty big collection as you can tell. All in all I didn't pick up the whole collection because not much interested me more than the lipsticks and pigment.

As far as the lipsticks I purchased two out of the three, Leading Lady red and Starlett Scarlet. The third color was a more brown toned red that just didn't interest me. The lipsticks are being sold at the price point of 18$ USD. Which looking at the packaging you would think they would be more.

Leading Lady Red
Starlett Scarlet

Color:

Starlett scarlet is a more orange toned tomato red and is brighter in color.

Leading lady red is closer to that true red with a slight blue undertone that you see in most classic pinup reds.

These reds are not something rare that can't be easily duped. If you own a red it's probably a close match to at least one of these shades in this collection. Below I swatched both shades next to ruby woo. You can also see the difference in formulation on that picture.

I had no problems with pigmentation and opacity with these lipsticks they applied easily and evenly.

Formulation:

These are labeled a matte finish, though in my opinion they are leading more towards a satin finish. They are not retro mattes so they aren't going to be as drying as my beloved infamous ruby woo lipstick. They are creamy and comfortable on the lips and glide without tugging.

The only other thing that I picked up in this collection was the pigment in the shade Overdressed. As far as the pigment goes, I'm still kinda meeehh  about it . If it wasn't for the packaging I wouldn't have bought it. The main reason being the price point and what your getting for that price. This retails for 23$, a dollar more than the standard Mac pigments. It doesn't seem that bad until you compare the amount of product you are getting for your buck. Standard pigments are 4.5 g/ .15 oz but the pigment that is in this collection comes in at 1 g/ .03 oz, so you are basically getting a fifth of the product.

Other than the price it's a really pretty color. It's described on the site as a fleshy beige with pearl. I've been using it as my lid and inner corner highlight on days where I've couldn't be bothered to do a full eye, and with this, a light brown in the crease, and a winged liner I'm GTG.

Overall rating-

Lipstick- .A only because of the BEAUTIFUL vintage like packaging

Pigment- C+/B- for the amount of product you get and its easily dupable, but again THE PACKAGING!!!

Did any of you pick up anything from the collection?
